Filled with the Spirit’s Fuel

Your car needs to be filled with fuel if you want to go somewhere. A car without fuel is a useless car. Similarly, a Christian without the filling of the Spirit is a useless Christian. It is unacceptable for a believer to say, “Other people are filled by the Spirit but I can’t seem to be. I don’t know how to be like them.”

Being filled with the Spirit is not something you do. It’s something you allow to be done to you. You have as much access to the Holy Spirit’s filling as I do. The more believers in a church that constantly operate with the filling of the Spirit, the stronger that church will be. The fewer operating with the Spirit’s filling, the weaker that church will be.

Being filled with the Spirit is not something you do once and that’s it.

Many Christians like to talk about what God did for them yesterday. Or maybe it was a few months or years ago. Sometimes it’s even decades ago. It’s almost as if God hasn’t done anything for them lately. Always remember that the Holy Spirit is a present participant in your life.

Always remember that the Holy Spirit is a present participant in your life.

Just as a car needs more fuel to keep going, so the filling of the Holy Spirit doesn’t happen just once. He wants to fill you anew every day. Being filled with the Spirit is an ongoing experience of being constantly refueled to live for God. So be filled and be fueled!
