Exploring the Book of Daniel with Tony Evans

The book of Daniel contains some of the most fascinating stories in all the books of the prophets, as well as a peek into the future. Daniel was one of the first exiles to Babylon, where the Jews fell under Gentile domination because of their sin and rebellion against God. But Daniel resisted the temptation to accommodate the pagan culture around him. As such, he is a model for anyone who wants to stand strong for his or her convictions in an age when God’s ways are not valued by the culture around them.

The book of Daniel contains some of the most fascinating stories in all the books of the prophets, as well as a peek into the future.

The stories of the three Hebrew men in the fiery furnace and Daniel being cast into the lion’s den are reminders that God is with His children even in the face of the greatest persecution. He will either help them prevail or see them through the conflicts.

Daniel shows that the God of heaven rules on earth, even when earth seems to be out of control.

And God promises to be with His people into future times, as we see in the prophecies contained in Daniel’s book. Scholars aren’t always in agreement about the precise meaning of all the prophecies, but they assure us that God is in control of the future and that we are under His care in the midst of everything that will unfold. Daniel shows that the God of heaven rules on earth, even when earth seems to be out of control. History is His story!
