It’s Who You Know

Back in the mid-1800s, there was a man who had a major need in his life, so he decided to go to the White House and set his problem before Abraham Lincoln, who was then President of the United States. But he soon discovered that it was very difficult to get access to the President, for Lincoln was a very busy man.

At that moment, a little boy wandered up to him and asked him what was wrong.

In despair, the man plopped down on one of the park benches outside the White House, placed his head in his hands, and began to weep. He’d lost hope of getting to see the President. At that moment, a little boy wandered up to him and asked him what was wrong. He told the little boy that he had a big problem that only the President could solve. His voice shook as he said, “They won’t let me go in to see the President.”

That’s when the little boy took him by the hand and asked him to come with him. Together they walked past the guards, past the barriers, and past the inner guards. And then they walked straight into the Oval Office where the boy said, “Dad, this man wants to talk to you.” President Lincoln turned to the man and gave him his full attention.

President Lincoln turned to the man and gave him his full attention.

Because of the son’s relationship to his father, doors were opened for the man that he would not have been able to walk through on his own. So, it is that Jesus is our advocate before our Heavenly Father, and our relationship with Him opens the doors to the divine throne room. He can take us there.
