Tony Evans Social Media

Ten years ago you would be hard pressed to find a church presence on any form of social media. Today, everyone has a Facebook and Twitter account. Still, it’s not uncommon for me to hear people voice concerns over engaging in social media. Some critics even suggest that the term “social media” itself is paradoxical; media, as they see it, squelches real, meaningful social interactions. I simply disagree with that perspective.

Connect

Today, social media allows the Christian family to connect across the world in ways that have never before been possible.

When used to its full potential, social media helps us fulfill our Christian duties in innovative ways.
Consider this passage:

As followers of Christ, we are called to get together and stir things up! While there are plenty of ways to do this in our local communities, we don’t have to limit ourselves by physical distances. In fact, doing so would be cheating ourselves and God out of a valuable opportunity. Look at how Paul’s epistles changed the communities he wrote to, and imagine what kind of impact your words can have with today’s technology.

Social Tools

The Urban Alternative team has put together great social media tools that will allow you to get the most out of the Kingdom Ministry and make the most of your faith. Below the banner of our homepage, you’ll see various social media icons. I encourage you to explore them and use the ones that are right for you. Become part of our Facebook and Twitter family. Or, if you prefer more visual and audio interaction, subscribe to the Tony Evans Youtube Channel. Want to hear a sermon? There’s an app for that! The TUA mobile app was designed to let you listen to sermons from your smart phone any time, day or night.

matthew1820These social channels not only let you get the most out of the Kingdom ministry, as social sharing tools they also help you become an ambassador for God. You don’t have to be an internet celebrity to make an impact.

Whether you have 3 Facebook friends or 30,000, by sharing God’s message, you are spreading the spirit of Christ.
And, if that’s not worth a “like,” I don’t know what is.
